Our Learning Focus
Happy December! Only 9 school days until Christmas break!
We will continue to look at different reading strategies such as visualizing, retelling a story and inferring. Students will identify problem and solution within the story, The Gingerbread Man. Students will be writing letters to Santa this week!
In math, we will continue with Module 2, which is an introduction into place value through addition and subtraction! On Tuesday, we will be taking our mod-module assessment! You can take a peak at what we will be learning during this module by following the link below! Students are preparing for advent by continuing our "Gifts of Kindness" activities. So far they have made Christmas cards for soldiers overseas and the elderly. They have also been practicing complimenting peers and other school staff members! Students will also be rehearsing for our Christmas concert this week! We had another great week with our spelling words! Students are working hard to apply their spelling words to their reading and writing! We will have a new list this week! This is our last list of spelling words until after the holidays :) New spelling words are listed below! Please use these words to complete our spelling choice board activities(choose 2). ALL homework is due on Fridays. I will NOT collect any homework until its due date. Thank you :)

Homework is designed to reinforce concepts taught at school, prepares students for upcoming lessons and teaches responsibility. Completing homework is a very important part of your child's education. Each week, homework will be sent home on Monday and due back on Friday. The order you choose to complete the given homework is up to you as long as all pieces are returned completed by Friday.
Assignments will be tracked for homework completion using a sticker chart. At the end of the 9 weeks, these stickers will determine your child’s homework grade as well as enter them in the running for some cool prizes! I do recommend keeping extra supplies on hand in your child’s designated homework area. Occasionally, your child may be required to color, cut, or glue as part of their homework. Having these supplies handy will make completing homework a less stressful experience
